Does eating sugar cause diabetes? What are its effects, and how can we avoid sugar?

Every parent teaches their children to avoid sugar, and in children’s minds comes a question: does eating sugar cause diabetes? The answer to this question is that it is not true to say that sugar causes diabetes, but consuming too much sugar can make you obese, and obesity can cause diabetes. In this blog, we are going to discuss sugar’s effects and some ways to avoid sugar.

What are the effects of sugar?

There are many benefits to sugar, as it is a source of energy, and blood also requires sugar to provide it to all cells in the body. Along with its benefits, it causes many problems too. Some of its bad effects are given below.

  • Causes weight gain

Sugar is really a big source of obesity because it causes fat storage in the body. Sugar is full of empty calories, which do not give the body any beneficial nutrients and just store excess fat. Calories are the cause of fat, and sugar is full of them. Weight gain not only makes you fat or obese but also makes you dependable to others. Weight gain causes depression, hypertension, and high blood pressure. Weight gain increases the chances of heart problems. Blood cholesterol is also increased if weight is gained.

  • Causes depression

Eating too much sugar can cause high levels of depression. The reason behind it is the release of dopamine, a hormone in our body. A high level of dopamine is released when you consume sugar, which makes you feel stressed. Too much sugar can disturb brain chemicals, which can destroy your mental peace. It can also affect permanent mental disorders.

  • Causes skin problems

Skin is the representative of our body and our largest organ. A common proverb says, “Our outside is what we put in,” so the main reason to quote this here is that we tell you that if we want to make our outside beautiful, we should eat good, healthy, and natural things. Sugar consumption can cause pimples on the face and on the whole body. Increased sugar in the blood causes fast-aging effects. Acne skin is also caused by sugar.

  • Sugar causes cavities

Our teeth are our weapon against what we eat. They make us chew our food and enhance the taste of things we like. But sugar is a destroyer of our teeth.

When we consume sugar, it reacts with the bacteria that reside in plaque and causes acid production. Acid destroys our teeth by slowly dissolving the enamel. Slowly, it results in holes in teeth or cavities. Teeth damage can cause teeth to be removed. So if you want to keep healthy teeth, you should avoid sugar.

  • Causes diabetes

Diabetes is a severe problem that you can have if you are consuming too much sugar. Sugar is a source of diabetes type Ⅱ. The reason behind it is that sugar causes weight gain and resistance, which causes insulin resistance, which causes diabetes.

How to avoid sugar

It is not easy to avoid sugar in daily life because it is the only taste we like from our childhood. All the things we eat that have sugar (sweet) in them are our favorites. So it is really tough to avoid consuming sugar, but it is not impossible. We are going to discuss some important things that can help you avoid sugar.

1. Make firm decision to avoid sugar

All works are only away from their composition; just make up your mind. Make your mind that you want to avoid sugar, and wherever it goes, the results will follow, but you will stay firm in your decision. If someone is eating good things that you like and they have sugar in them, it can carve your appetite, but you can stay focused and straight-centered on your goal.

2. Avoid home-made foods that have sugar in them.

All the things we want to change in our lives start in our homes. When mothers bake some cakes for their children, they are heartfully ready to eat them. But if you want to avoid sugar, you have to say no to your mother and siblings. Also, start consulting your family members to avoid sugar and make them reduce sugar quantity slowly, and one day cut off sugar at home.

3. Avoid all sugary snacks

Snacks are the things that we eat whenever we want to have a light intake and little hunger. But these little sources of sugar can make you fat, and this can cause diabetes. When you go to buy any snack, you should check the tags, ingredients, and calories. If you find some high-calorie foods, you should not buy them as sugar-free snacks.

4. Sugar-free meals outside

When you go for an outing and some chilling with your friends, you should avoid sugar there. We can say no to anyone, but our friend and partner are two people to whom we mostly can not say no. If you are going on the mission of “No Sugar,” you should tell them that you are on a sugar-free routine and make them respect your decision. So whenever you go out for meals (dinner, lunch, or breakfast), you should order sugar-free things.

5. Use natural honey as sweetener

Although natural honey is sweet in taste and has sugar in it, it is not the kind of sugar we use locally. It has added sugar, which is naturally made and has no impurities in it. Thus, honey is a good replacement for artificial sugar.

6. Get better sleep

Avoiding sugar can cause a little bit of weakness because the body uses sugar for energy. If the sugar supply is limited, the body can make you feel dizzy and a little bit nauseated.

Getting better sleep is a good way to keep your body fresh and energetic. Low sleep can cause high levels of depression and stress.
